The Graduate Student Fellow for Data Services for the Sciences will assist librarians to develop resources and programming related to data services. Programming developed will be informed by the results of a focus group study science librarians conducted in the last year about graduate and postdoctoral students’ data management needs. Programming will include instructional sessions that focus on data management concepts and tools. The fellow will also help librarians create resources in a variety of formats, including: demonstrations, workshops, tutorials, and web content.  Resources created will be on topics such as data tools, data organization and data management. The fellow will also help plan promotion materials and outreach events related to data services and resources.

Fellows are expected to make a presentation to Library staff about their activities/project near the completion of their fellowship experience.

Application Process

Typically, the Library releases the calls for applications each quarter, depending on what opportunities and projects are available. Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter highlighting interest in the fellowship and relevant background experience to Jennifer Hart, Librarian for Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Statistics at hartj@uchicago.edu.
