Established by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in August 1999, the Hong Kong Institute for Monetary and Financial Research (HKIMR) has been carrying out research in the fields of monetary policy, banking and finance that are of strategic importance to Hong Kong and the Asia region.

Applicants to the internship should be currently enrolled in a PhD programme in economics, finance, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates who are in the final stages of writing their PhD dissertation and who are conducting research on issues related to the HKIMR’s current research themes and priorities.

Internships usually last three months. Accepted interns are expected to complete their visits to the Institute during fall 2026 or spring 2027. The HKIMR provides travel and accommodation allowances (for interns from overseas) and a daily stipend.

The application deadline is 30 June 2026.
