Embedded within UChicago’s Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, STAGE is a devised theatre and film lab dedicated to meaningful collaborations among scientists and artists. The work that STAGE generates conveys the flavor, substance, and texture of scientific activity to give audiences visceral experiences that ignite their curiosity. At the intersection of science and art, STAGE is forging new directions for experimental inquiry into the complexity of human creativity.

STAGE welcomes UChicago graduate students and postdocs with hybrid interests and skills to work on our theatrical and film productions: scientists and engineers who have experience or interest in theatre and/or film; artists, performers, designers and dramaturgs who have experience or interest in science and/or technology.

STAGE is particularly interested in candidates who are inspired by STAGE’s non-traditional method of devising stories through collective research and collaborative play. STAGE requires that graduate students commit to a minimum of two-quarters of work with the Lab.

Interested UChicago graduate students and postdocs should apply via GRAD Gargoyle. Positions are unpaid for an initial volunteer period. Based on funding available for the projects, paid positions may be available.
