The Society for American Music is dedicated to the study, teaching, creation, and dissemination of all musics in the Americas. As a scholarly, collegial, and inclusive organization, SAM serves a wide and diverse array of academics, librarians, composers, performers and members of the general public.

SAM is proud to support the activities of scholars of American music at all stages of their career with a variety of fellowships. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000.

Subventions for publication are also available.

Annual Deadlines

Most have deadlines of October 15, with the exception of the Margery Lowens Dissertation Research Fellowship (July 15) and the Kate Van Winkle Keller Fellowship (January 15).
