This research grant supports scholars whose research areas focus on one or more of the following target research areas:

  • Indigenous Studies
  • Indigenous Political Science
  • Sovereignty
  • Tribal Governance
  • Native Studies

Qualitative, quantitative, interpretive, mixed methodological, political philosophy, and theory approaches are welcome. Additionally, collaboratively-authored projects are welcome.

Award

Grants will range between $2000 – $2500. Funds can be used to support access to data or archival records, paying undergraduate or graduate student research assistants, purchasing statistical software to facilitate research, costs associated with manuscript preparation, costs associated with travel for fieldwork or research site visits, and professional development activities such as skills or methods training acquisition.

Eligibility

Applications are welcome from political science and Indigenous Politics scholars, faculty, students, and practitioners whose scholarship is focused on indigenous politics and political science.
