If you are planning on, or even considering, continuing your education after college, summers are an ideal time to gain experience and skills. These experiences – research, internships, jobs, service, or even language study or travel – can be critical in helping students hone their interests and prepare to become competitive graduate school applicants.

The University of Chicago and its affiliated national laboratories offer a wealth of such summer opportunities. From classes to research programs, internships to mentoring, one of these may be exactly what you’re looking for.

Although deadlines vary by program, note that for many summer opportunities, applications are due in late January or early February each year. Unless otherwise specified, these programs are specifically for undergraduates.

Looking for programs for younger students or for educators? The College Admissions Office maintains information as part of the UChicago Promise initiative: UChicago Promise programs for students and educators.

Our undergraduate College also offers a Summer Session, with courses and programs for students at various levels. Find more information at summer.uchicago.edu. The Summer Language Institute, open to visiting graduate students as well as younger students, is housed under the Summer Session.
