The Winifred Goldring Award will be presented to three outstanding female graduate students pursuing a career in paleontology (and affiliated sciences) at a degree-granting institution. The award, which consists of a $2000 cash prize and membership in the Paleontological Society and AWG for tenure of the awardee’s schooling. The award is named for Winifred Goldring, a pioneering woman paleontologist, who became State Paleontologist of New York State in 1939 and the first female president of the Paleontological Society in 1949. This award was made possible by the generous donations of Drs. David Watkins and Mary Anne Holmes and the Paleontological Society and was founded by Joanne Kluessendorf. Applications are due April 30th of each year.
The Brunton Field Project Award. Two scholarships, each for $1,000 and including an engraved transit of the student’s choosing, may be awarded yearly. The award will go to a historically underrepresented geoscience student at the undergraduate and at the graduate level to support field expenses associated with their geoscience student field projects. The application deadline is December 15th of each year.
