The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) encourages applications for fellowships for advanced study or research during one academic year, at a Belgian University or institution of higher learning. Knowledge of Dutch, or French, or German is optional. Applicants should make their own arrangements to register or affiliate with a Belgian university of research institution. Fellows should be in residence in Belgium during the tenure of their fellowship.

Master and PhD Program

  • Non-renewable grant for 1 academic year (9 months)
  • Stipend $29,000
  • Health insurance

Requirements:

  1. Be citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  2. While holding the BAEF Fellowship register in a graduate program ( Master’s or PhD.) at a Belgian University or higher institution
  3. Submit official transcripts as evidence of outstanding Bachelor’s and Master’s degree record

Research stay

  • Non-renewable grant for a period of 12 months
  • Doctoral researcher : stipend $29,000
  • Post-doctoral researcher : stipend $33,000
  • Health insurance

Requirements:

  1. Be citizen or permanent resident of the United States
  2. Doctoral applicants have to be registered in a Ph.D. or equivalent degree program in the United States
  3. Post-doctoral applicants have to hold a Ph.D. degree and by July 1, 2023 have no more than 2 years since obtaining their Ph.D.
  4. Submit official transcripts as evidence of outstanding Bachelor’s and Master’s degree records
