Graduate Council Fund

Graduate Council provides funding to individuals and groups to travel to conferences and events or host events and other activities on campus. We provide guidelines for applying, examples of previous successful applications, and offer help in designing, running, and advertising your own events.

Individual Funding

Students can apply for up to $750 for a personal grant (e.g., to attend a conference, travel for research, etc.).

Group Funding

Groups can apply for up to $1,500 for a grant that benefits the broader graduate student community (e.g., host a social activity, start a club, etc.).

Eligibility

Every graduate student at the University of Chicago is invited and encouraged to apply.

Timeline

At least 1 month prior to the dates during which the award will be used, students must submit a complete application. Please note that the fund does not review applications during breaks.
