The Pearson Institute’s Research and Innovation Fund provides grants to University of Chicago faculty and PhD students conducting research on global conflict. Studies must be rooted in innovative, data-driven research that seeks to understand and reduce global conflict and demonstrates public policy impact. The proposals may be regionally and topically diverse. The Pearson Institute is focused on using quantitative social science to advance the study of conflict, but submissions from any field and using any methodology are permitted. Proposals are most likely to be funded if they demonstrate how the research will advance an important question in public policy involving global conflict. Students submitting proposals must be full-time PhD students at the University of Chicago. PhD students are eligible for funding between $2,000 – $10,000.
