The Department of Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity (RDI) is proud to announce the Timuel D. Black Community Solidarity Scholarship competition.  The Timuel D. Black Community Solidarity Scholarship will be given to an outstanding University of Chicago undergraduate or graduate student who exemplifies Timuel Black’s spirit and commitments.

The designated scholar will receive an award of $5000 to pursue research and a community-engaged project that is aligned with the work and legacy of Timuel D. Black, civil rights activist, oral historian, and educator.

To be considered for the award, students must demonstrate an interest in advancing and strengthening the University’s connection to the South Side community, have a strong track record of advocating for and supporting civil rights, and commit to furthering CKP’s community educational programming. Only students who will be officially enrolled at UChicago during the next academic year are eligible.
