UChicago Global is pleased to announce travel grants for advanced Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars in Hong Kong. These grants support costs associated with field and archival research in the respective regions. Recipients may also take advantage of space and resources at the UChicago Yuen Campus in Hong Kong.

Travel Grant

The University of Chicago Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars planning field or archival research that would benefit from a residence in Hong Kong are invited to apply for short-term research funding. Awardees will be issued up to a US$ 4,000 stipend to assist with travel and other related expenses. Periods of residence may vary from a few weeks to several months, but must be completed before June 30, 2025. Office space will be provided at the UChicago Hong Kong Campus, and awardees are encouraged to spend time there.

The research conducted by the Ph.D. student or postdoctoral scholar need not focus on Hong Kong, but the applicant should explain why it would be beneficial for the project to spend time in that city. Preference will be given to projects that will build connections with people and/or institutions in the East or Southeast Asian region, and especially with Hong Kong-based scholars.
