PiLA offers young professionals the opportunity to work with leading organizations across Latin America and the Caribbean, contributing to projects in a variety of fields, including education, public health, environmental conservation, microfinance, and more. No prior affiliation with Princeton University is required or expected.
PiLA matches partner NGO and multilateral organizations that are engaged in socially responsible development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean with highly qualified and motivated recent college graduates pursuing year-long service fellowship opportunities throughout the region. PiLA Fellows come from many fields of study such as STEM, social sciences and humanities, pre-med, law, public policy, education, international relations, communications, and more.
Award
- Financial Support: Fellows receive a combination of room, board, and a stipend to meet basic living needs during their service. Exact provisions vary by placement and partner organization.
- Dynamic Placements: Fellows are matched with leading partner organizations working to address pressing issues in fields like education, public health, environmental conservation, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, and more.
- Lasting Connections & Community: Throughout the year, fellows have opportunities to connect with one another through virtual orientations and events.
- Mentorship & Ongoing Support: PiLA provides regular check-ins and guidance from staff, as well as access to an alumni mentorship program
No matter the host organization or location, all fellowships last approximately 12 months. Placements are finalized in the early spring and start dates range from June to August.
Eligibility
- Open to young professionals (including graduate students) and graduating seniors
- Graduate of U.S. or Canadian accredited University
- Professional / advanced Spanish language skills
