The University is eligible to nominate up to seven final year PhD students/recent PhD graduates for the Schmidt Science Fellows program. Nominees must have a keen interest in undertaking an interdisciplinary research pivot during a postdoctoral placement.

The award will provide Fellows with $110,000 per year for a period of either one or two years. In order to be eligible, individuals must expect to receive a PhD in natural sciences (including life, physical, and earth sciences), engineering, mathematics, or computing between May 15, 2024 and June 30, 2025.

Qualified students must apply via InfoReady no later than Monday, April 15, 2024. Candidates must submit a curriculum vitae; a one-page statement on her/his interest in the Program and what she/he hopes to achieve during and after it; and one reference letter attesting to the student’s accomplishments and capabilities. Applicant statements should include evidence of scientific curiosity and innovation, extraordinary achievement, alignment with the program, global ambitions for social good, character and leadership and collaborative spirit.
