UChicago Global is pleased to announce a call for PhD Student Travel Grant applications, in support of travel and short-term research funding in our five target regions. Applications are available for funding in mainland China; East Asia; South Asia; sub-Saharan Africa; and Latin America and the Caribbean.
University of Chicago PhD students planning field or archival research in either the Summer of 2026 or Academic Year 2026-27 are invited to apply. Periods of residence may vary from a few weeks to several months. Awardees will be issued up to a $3,000 stipend to assist with travel and other related expenses.
The research conducted by the PhD student must be in support of projects with faculty oversight and/or dissertation work ideally strengthening partnership with local institution(s). PhD students should be in the dissertation stage, or expected to enter this stage no later than the end of Spring Quarter 2026.
Applications are due April 20, 2026, with results shared in early May.
