The mission of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) is to defend and sustain the individual rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought — the most essential qualities of liberty. FIRE educates Americans about the importance of these inalienable rights, promotes a culture of respect for these rights, and provides the means to preserve them.
A total pool of $250,000 will be available in 2024, with a maximum amount of $50,000 per grant and no minimum amount. This program accepts applications related to freedom of expression and academic freedom in the following fields: economics, education, history, law, philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology.
