The Forum for Free Inquiry and Expression welcomes proposals for research, programs, and course development projects that support its mission of fostering, exploring, and strengthening free inquiry and expression.
Current University of Chicago faculty, academic appointees, and graduate students are eligible to apply.
Chicago Forum grants provide up to $10,000 for graduate students and $20,000 for faculty, subject to the overall budget and number of proposals received.
Funds may be used for travel (domestic or international), research or course development materials/expenses, and conferences/workshops at UChicago. Funds cannot be used for salary supplements or course buyouts. For faculty, support for UChicago student research assistants directly engaged in the project may be considered.
