One applicant will be chosen to pursue their original research on the Holocaust and/or historical and contemporary antisemitism using the USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive (VHA), which currently holds over 55,000 video testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust and other genocides. The incumbents may also wish to complement their testimony-based research in the VHA with the primary and secondary source collections related to the Holocaust at USC’s Doheny Library.
Award
The fellowship will provide $25,000 support for a research stay of one semester or term at the USC Shoah Foundation in either spring or summer 2025. The incumbent may also choose hybrid residency for their fellowship, which would require at least four weeks in Los Angeles at the USC Shoah Foundation while the remainder of the term would be remote research in the VHA. Fellows are responsible for securing their own housing and health insurance.
Eligibility
- Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited Master’s or PhD program
- Although any person may apply, preference will be given to Canadian scholars, those at institutions located in Canada, or research related to Canada.
