VELD Fellowship Taiwan

VELD strives to bring about vocational, educational (including linguistic), and leadership development, all while exploring a new cultural landscape in Taipei under full financial support.

There are two tracks to choose from. While all fellows will spend the winter semester studying studying Chinese at the MTC, with the final term with the option to pursue a work placement at a startup of their choice, the spring will either involve an additional work placement or a further semester of Chinese studies.

Professional Track: Taiwan is a crucial hub of the tech economy and a part of the fast growing Greater South East Asia region. Through the VELD Fellowship, you will be able to explore a variety of industries at some of the most exciting companies in Taipei, in fields ranging from the cutting edge in FinTech and Biomedical Engineering to more traditional areas such as supply chain and investment.

Language and Culture Track: Learn Traditional Chinese at the highly regarded Mandarin Training Center at the National Taiwan Normal University (Shida 師大). The immersive environment includes practical training through social and professional situations to create a holistic and practical language learning experience. With other fellows, you may also independently explore the rich cultural history Taiwan has to offer through the National Palace Museum and travel the island to enjoy the beautiful beaches and pristine mountains.
