Housed in the Center for Digital Scholarship in the UChicago Library, the Data Visualization Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for a cohort of three University of Chicago graduate students to enhance their research, teaching, and learning through visualization technologies. An annual stipend of $16,667 will accompany this fellowship. Under the mentorship of the Head of Research Data Services, the fellows will support the Kathleen A. Zar Room, a technology-rich space within the Library dedicated to facilitating exploration and innovation in visualizations for faculty, students, and staff.
The fellows’ central opportunity will be to develop an independent project related to their academic program. This focus on an independent project may help them explore how their work could be translated to a career in library sciences and will give them a portfolio of skills and techniques to take with them at the end of the fellowship period. This fellowship will help to enhance their research skills, gain expertise in digital scholarship methods and tools, obtain experience in planning and delivering instructional sessions, and learn about academic careers in libraries.
