UChicagoGRAD manages four vehicles that approved graduate students may use for transportation to and from Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne) and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). Students must be approved by their UChicago faculty advisor and dean of students to participate in this Program. In general, students are not permitted to use the Transportation Program for more than 2-3 days per week on a long-term regular basis. Students who are at Argonne/Fermilab for the full duration of each week throughout the year typically make other long-term arrangements.
Students must fill out a new application and be approved annually for participation as a driver or passenger.
Steps to Enroll
- Discuss your interest in participating in the program with your faculty advisor.
- Email UChicagoGRAD (allysontodd@uchicago.edu) to request the application form, which includes program rules and requirements. This message should also include the name of your faculty advisor.
- UChicagoGRAD will send students the application form via Box Sign.
- Once a student completes the form, it will be routed to their faculty advisor and dean of students for approval.
- Students who want to be drivers for the program will be required to complete additional paperwork, consent to a Motor Vehicle Record background check, and complete an online safe driver course.
Important Notes
- Participation is contingent upon adherence to all program policies and safety guidelines.
- Failure to comply may result in removal from the program.
