The mission of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation is to promote lifelong learning. AKA EAF offers awards to graduate students on both a merit and need-based basis. Applicants do not need to be affiliated with the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
Scholarships for graduate students include:
Graduate Financial Need
Recipients should be a full-time, graduate student, currently enrolled in an accredited degree-granting institution, minimum 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate community service and involvement.
Graduate Merit
Recipients should be a full-time, graduate student, currently enrolled in an accredited degree- granting institution (or have an acceptance letter if starting in the Fall), minimum 3.0 GPA, and able to demonstrate community service and involvement.
Eligibility
The following general criteria is a summary and applies to all award categories:
- Must be currently enrolled full-time (depends on your school’s qualifications) at an accredited degree granting institution. Online and accelerated classes are accepted.
- Graduate students must plan to continue their academic pursuits in the fall of the grant year.
- Demonstrated exceptional academic achievement/or financial need.
- Leadership, volunteer, civic and academic services.
