This grant provides support for an academic year of doctoral dissertation research conducted in France. The annual stipend offered is $25,000. All disciplines are welcome to apply, although the topic should be uniquely French and make a stay in France necessary.

University of Chicago students apply through UChicagoGRAD Fellowships. Contact Kevin Doherty at kevdoh@uchicago.edu as early as possible to receive the application and discuss the application process. The competition runs concurrently with the Fulbright U.S. Student Program and requires a short interview with a faculty committee in order for applicants to be considered for nomination for the fellowship.

Application Process

Students applying to the Lurcy Trust Fellowship are required to participate in the Fulbright US Student Program campus nomination process.

Lurcy applicants who are not applying to Fulbright should use the alternative application form, and must otherwise follow the same steps in the Fulbright campus nomination process.
