The BSD Values Grants program is a resource for members of the Biological Sciences Division community to apply for funding to support values-aligned projects.
Eligibility
We fund applications for projects and initiatives that exemplify the BSD’s core values by:
- Supporting the scholarship of staff, students, and trainees in science and medicine.
- Creating or enhancing programs and initiatives that expand access to and build belonging within the BSD.
- Investigate treatment, training, and workplace dynamics in science & medicine.
We fund BSD faculty, staff, students, or trainees (trainees = graduate students, postdocs, or house staff). Priority consideration given to applicants who have not received one of our Small Grants within the past 12 months.
Funding Information – Grants up to $2,000
Projects or research funded through this program should be completed within 12 months of the award date. Grant funds will be transferred to the appropriate department within 30 days of receiving the grant award and COA account information.
Past awardees have used grant funding for purposes such as:
- Program or project-related costs, including honoraria, materials, and conference hosting
- Professional development or educational opportunities aligned with the BSD’s values
- Research-related expenses, such as consulting services (e.g., transcription, data analysis, computing support)
- Travel and expenses for presenting research at academic or professional conferences
This program does not fund:
- Tuition or salaries
- Recuperation of clinical revenue
- Implementation of clinical guidelines
- Equipment, computers, or clinical supplies
- Large quantities of food or catering
- Activities that have already occurred (i.e., retroactive funding)
Deadline
The third Thursday of each month from August – April.
