The English for Heritage Language Speakers (EHLS) Program offers a unique opportunity to U.S. citizens who are native speakers of critical languages. Participants receive full tuition and a living stipend while attending an 8-month course hosted at Georgetown University. As scholars, they undergo intensive training in professional communication and career skills essential for working in the government.

As part of the scholarship obligation, participants agree to fulfill the EHLS service requirement, which requires you to work for the federal government in a position with national security responsibilities for one year after you complete the program.

In past years, the EHLS Program was open to native speakers of: Chinese Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, Persian Farsi, Korean, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Turkish, and Hausa.
