Tiny Succulent Giveaway (10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., UChicagoGRAD HQ)
As part of Grad Student Celebration Week, UChicagoGRAD and Graduate Council are giving away 200 tiny succulents to graduate students across the university! On May 6, the first 200 registered students can come to GRAD HQ and pick up a 3” succulent to take home. Registration confirmation will be required to pick up your tiny plant! Registration opens Friday, April 25.
GRAD Book Swap (2:00–4:00 p.m., UChicagoGRAD HQ)
Tired of pretending you’ll read that book you’re only sort of interested in? Dreaming of something more for your old books, beyond their function as decoration or doorstop? Maybe you want to say goodbye to your books with a commemorative meal? Come to the GRAD Book Swap! You’ll be able to take home as many books as you bring to swap with old and new friends. We accept used or new books that maintain a relatively sturdy binding and can be easily read. Food and drink will also be provided – after you’ve done all the hard work of book-swapping, take a load off in our lounge and eat, drink, read, chat with friends, and/or marvel at the millions of words swirling around us. Paint Your Thesis/Dissertation (5:00–7:00 p.m., UChicagoGRAD HQ)
Think outside the word processor with an activity that combines all you know about your research topic with colorful paints! Come and let off some steam with a paintbrush in hand and a pastry in the other! Refreshments, snacks, and art supplies will be provided. Pre-registration is preferred to ensure enough supplies for everyone.
