Campus Tours

Daily Campus Tours

To register for an on-campus visit, we ask that visitors please review our FAQ. Graduate Admissions offers tours led by current graduate students most weekdays. Tours leave promptly at the scheduled time, and last approximately one hour.

Upon registration, you will receive a confirmation, including links to directions and parking information. Because parking near campus can be difficult, we encourage you to allow at least 30 minutes to find parking, or to use public transit if possible.

If you have additional questions or need special accommodation, please feel free to contact us at gradadmissions@uchicago.edu or by phone at 773.702.3760.

Group Visits

UChicagoGRAD is pleased to welcome group visits to campus. We offer campus tours with a current graduate student and informational sessions with a staff member which can be tailored to the interests of the group.

The first step in arranging a group visit is to fill out the online group tour request form. Programs which primarily serve minority, low-income, and first generation students, such as McNair programs, will be contacted by a member of our Development & Diversity team to arrange the details of your visit. All other groups will be contacted by the Graduate Admissions office to make arrangements. Graduate Admissions does not arrange lab tours, faculty appointments, or other programming beyond the campus tour and informational session.

Please contact us at gradadmissions@uchicago.edu for more information.

Campus Tour FAQs

Do I have to register?

No. We do request that you register in advance so that we will know to expect you, but walk-in attendees may join a tour so long as they arrive prior to the departure time. We will ask all visitors to complete a registration form, and this may be done in our office if you do not pre-register.

Can I reschedule the visit?

Yes, you can cancel or reschedule via the confirmation email you received. You can also email gradadmissions@uchicago.edu to cancel your current registration. Then, you can go back to the registration page and sign up for whichever new time slot works for you.

Where should I stay in Chicago?

There are several hotel options in Hyde Park to consider. Some options include The Sophy Hotel and Hyatt Place Hyde Park. If you plan to stay downtown while visiting UChicago, some options include the Hilton Chicago on Michigan Avenue or the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Magnificent Mile.

Where can I park?

As in any large city, parking can at times be difficult to find. If you are driving to campus, please allow at least 30 minutes to find a parking space. The University also has a pay-to-park visitor garage at the intersection of 55th Street and Ellis Avenue. Street parking, both free and metered, is also available throughout campus and the surrounding neighborhood of Hyde Park.

What if I cannot visit in person?

Don’t worry! We are always available to answer questions via email at gradadmissions@uchicago.edu.
